Long-distance move from Austin, TX to Waukegan, IL

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!

Looks like even 6 years later, they’re STILL SCAMMERS!!

First off, to echo ALL these other complaints, I got one quote, they took the downpayment, and then we ended up having to pay OVER DOUBLE what was initially quoted! They contracted us out to OLD COUNTRY VAN LINES, so I’ll be copying this review to them as well.

Then when they got there, they told us to box things like floor lamps and our VACUUM CLEANER. Who boxes those?? So of course they charged us for THEIR boxes. They even nickel & dimed us for another $2000 for them having to SHRINKWRAP stuff!! I have moved on average once every two years the past 20 years, and NOT ONCE have ever had to box my vacuum cleaner, or PAY FOR SHRINKWRAP.

Here’s the biggest kicker: THEY LOST (probably stole) OUR 55” SAMSUNG TV, and so far aren’t even taking our concerns seriously!! Here’s the worst part: ONE group picked our stuff up, and a completely new group dropped it off. So I don’t even know how many times our shipment changed hands, or how many people rifled through our things.

When they were unloading, they set boxes every which way, upside down, on their sides, so there were at least 20 items damaged, even though I had CLEARLY marked the boxes “Fragile” or “This side up.”

I’ve been going back and forth with them over email (to make sure I had written records of them continually blowing me off), and they keep telling me “you refused to get extra insurance.” THEY NEVER OFFERED ME MORE!! I paid EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS to these clowns!!! You would think that would’ve bought me some insurance that THEY WOULD TAKE CARE OF MY THINGS!! Otherwise, WTF WAS I PAYING FOR???

Save your money and DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE. They are nothing but highway grifters and DO NOT CARE about you. I would WELCOME a reply from them!! It’s more than Ive gotten over email, that’s for sure!!

Long-distance move from Duxbury, MA to Aurora, CO

Old Country took good care of me!

Old Country Van Lines moved me from my house in Massachusetts to my new home in Colorado. Bill, the sales rep, did an amazing job doing a thorough inventory of my things in an effort to provide a super accurate estimate. The movers were methodical and swift, and I was amazed that they got my things to Colorado with such short turnaround! I would recommend Old Country Van Lines to anybody seeking a professional company for a substantial, long-distance move.

DO NOT do business with this company.

I hope my review saves you the hassle and heartache I’ve experienced with this company! They will increase their cost before they deliver goods by the thousands and you pay or they threaten to not deliver your goods. Almost 60% of my goods arrived broken or completely damaged beyond repair. They packed, stored and delivered. All the damage was done while they had possession. I had a new wool rug that arrived damp and molded. When they arrived, they hired people off the street to unload. Put holes in the Sheetrock when delivering in our brand new construction. Not a professional or reputable company as they describe themselves. I have a lot more pictures of damage. Refrigerator dented (only a year old). Dining room table wood cracked. And so much more!!

Official company response

Melinda,
We explained to you on move day the reasoning behind the additional cost. You were given an option to leave the extra items we saw when we arrived, that were not disclosed to us during the quote, behind and that you would not be charged for them. We offered to move the items you told us that were going, at the same price you were quoted but you declined and insisted on us taking everything. As far as the damages, this is the first we are hearing of them and have tried to reach out to you numerous times to start the claims process for the damages. Please give us a call directly so we can get the claims process rolling.

Long-distance move from California to New Mexico

Run! Don’t walk.

This moving company is textbook for who NOT to hire when you move. We moved from Northern California to New Mexico. First they quoted the job at $6000 which we agreed to. They were 6 hours late showing up to pack us out, but they brought a little truck which they had to unpack & come back the next day. The next day they were 4 hours late. When they were done, we were told it would be another $7200. Devastated, all we could do was agree because new owners of the house were moving in the next day. They left garbage, empty tape rolls, water bottles all over. Because we scheduled housecleaning that day, because we thought the movers would be done, they could not complete their job.
13 days later they finally delivered our stuff on a big-rig. They demanded the rest of their fee before unloading one box out of their truck.
Do yourself a favor, hire ANYONE else.

Do not use them.

Sales rep Josh told me how his quote and company were great and he would make sure I was taken care of.. well that certainly was not the case. Hired them to move from MA to FL. Neglected to tell me they would transfer to 2 different trucks. Told me we were insured but not that the insurance was 60 cents/lb.-would have purchased additional if knew. Damaged many items. Josh didn’t help at all! Poor customer service. Scam sales people Bad business.

Official company response

Carol,
We have no record of your move in our system. If you are a real customer, and not a malicious marketing attempt by another move, please reach out to us and provide your last name so we may rectify the situation. The BBB has no record of your complaint, this is the only website we can find any type of issue regarding your move. I'm not sure how you would want us to respond considering your review does not describe any type of service issue, but if you reach out of us or post your job number or last name, we can look into it and address the situation.

Long-distance move from Sacramento, CA to Grand Junction, CO

Review of old country van lines Please Beware!!

Started off ok, worked with [NAME EDIT] who assured me that it was a mom and pop operation, A++rating on BBB, one driver start to finish, no add-ons ever, no subcontracting ever, no worries, quick turnaround once they picked up..delivery would be the following week. Any questions just give a call. Turned out to be complete lies. Not a mom and pop operation, calls were to someone in NJ who then had to contact NJ dispatch. My mom's small load was in California. [EDIT] I ended up with [NAME EDIT] who was very rude and unresponsive. No A+ BBB rating, in fact, BBB says they are not accredited and are no longer in business. Different drivers. Pick up went OK but delivery was a nightmare. They took my mom's things to some warehouse and then held them there for more than a week and never would tell me if they had been loaded on the semi or if a driver had been assigned. Dispatch and the NJ people blocked my calls. I had to cancel tons of appts. just waiting around. Was told the driver would call the night before to let me know when they were coming. Was told driver would call about an hour before (I had asked them to use my cell number). No call the night before and the hour before they called my mom's empty apartment in Sacramento! We just happened to be at a care management meeting when the semi arrived. Had to pay an extra $75.00 because her door in the facility was more than 75 feet from the truck. ([NAME EDIT] had said not to worry about that in the contract, "that's only when they have to park down the street". Thankfully it is over, but seriously, check out the company better than I did. Lesson learned. I never think people will lie or be dishonest with me. I guess I am jaded now.

Move size: Partial Move Service cost: $2567

Official company response

We are a family owned Company. You were routed to our NJ office because that is our main location. Our CA office is only a hub. All dispatching is done through our NJ office. Your sales rep, who you mention by name, passed away and slandering him after his death is incredibly disrespectful. We can provide the recorded sales call which in no way shape or form promises that any type of potential fees would be "not to be worried about." Every thing you are complaining about and acting like were not aware of, was outlined during your sales call, on move day, as well as being in the contract. We operated within our stated terms to a T. We are an A+ rated company on the BBB, however we are not accredited nor ever told you we were. We will happily provide your bill of lading, signed contracts, hand written inventory , and recorded calls to prove this review is mostly slander.

Long-distance move from Sacramento, CA to Leander, TX

Unreputible Company.

On May 22nd 2018, I contracted with Old Country to move from California to Texas. We hardly had any stuff, about 589cf worth of stuff. We paid almost $2300 for the move. The communication from this company is non-existent. Once you have signed your contract & given them your deposit, it is very hard to get in touch with someone again whether on the phone or via email.

The day before our scheduled move, I had to contact their dispatch because no one called me like I was told they would, to find out what time the movers would arrive. I was told they would be there the next day 6/2 between 9am-11am, then about an hour later I get a call saying that due to "logistics convenience" they would be there between 3p-5p. The on the morning of 6/2, I get a call saying that they have to move our pickup to 6/3 8a-10a (one of their workers got hurt & they were up all night with him). Then at 8am on 6/3 I get a text message, not a phone call, telling me that due to "logistics inconvenience" the movers won't be there till 3p-5p. When I tried to explain that this was ridiculous as were already behind schedule, the dispatcher didn't seem to care. When I called the company to complain, they basically said that there wasn't anything they could do.

When the movers finally did show up it was in a budget rental van (not a company moving truck, like I was told they would). They were friendly did well at wrapping everything & protecting everything. When we received our delivery today, the movers showed up in a Sunway Truck (not an Old Country Truck). There were rough unloading the stuff, not very friendly & when I noticed that my husbands piano bench was severely damaged and I brought it to their attention, all I got was "Oh That, well you will have to call the company & file a claim". Then upon leaving they had the nerve to say that "If you would like to tip us, that would be appreciated". I told them I didn't have any cash left on me. I just thought that I was rude.

It took me over an hour to get through to someone at Old Country to see how I go about filing a claim & who I write a complaint letter to. The guy at the other end gave me the information & then hung up on me. **DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY**.

Horrible. Do not use this company.

They are the worst. Do not hire this company to move your furniture. We actually had to get the police involved in order for them to deliver our furniture. When they did come they didn't put it all back together again. Told my husband that was his problem. Had two pieces broken. Very rude and they overcharged us. Made us pay extra because we filed a complaint with the US DOT. Poor customer service. When you call to find out when they are coming to deliver your furniture, they tell you they will look into it and then don't call you back or answer their phones. I don't know how they stay in business.

Long-distance move from Windsor, VT to Los Angeles, CA

Ripoff.

I literally had to hire another moving company to have my stuff picked up to get it to California. I paid a deposit and then they asked for cash when I had my stuff picked up. I was charged an additional 1000.00 at that time. My 2nd payment was $1230 on my original quote of 3200 to go VT to southern California. The movers took 150 of out my payment as their "tip". My glass coffee table was shattered and a bunch of stuff was broken when it arrived. They barely put anything in with the glass table to keep it protected. I had to get an investigator from the DOT to get the address for my stuff and then had to call the police department in order to allow the movers into their warehouse when they gave me a specific time for them to show up. My stuff arrived last Wednesday when the original company was supposed to deliver it May 7. I had to go buy an air mattress to use for 10 days and buy other necessary items until my stuff showed up. Use ANYONE but these people. They don't return phone calls or emails and they WILL RIP you off.

Tough Customer Service Experience.

Old Country Van Lines seems to have reviews that are 5 stars or 1 star. From our recent moving experience with them, here is the reason: expectations are not sufficiently explained. We were originally told, during the sales process, that our belongings would arrive in 3-10 days. The movers packed a very important box in their van that was supposed to be loaded into my car. When I inquired how quickly the box would make it to my new address, since they refused to find the mis-packed box, I was informed that there was an 80% chance it would arrive in 3 days. It took 15 days. During that time, we had an extremely difficult time speaking with anyone who was willing to give us any solid information. Bill, a supervisor, was the first to do so and the first to explain the moving system to us (after 9 days of getting the runaround). Here’s the thing.. don’t expect your belongings until they have enough moves in your area of the country to dispatch a truck. If we had realized that ourselves, we would have been more patient and would have made arrangements to bring more clothing and cookware with us in our vehicle. I am only giving OCVL three stars because of the multiple people who were useless in providing information to us and flat-out lied to us during the process (IE. “I’ll have my supervisor call you.” and “I’ll see if dispatch can give you a call.”) Thank you, Bill, for making this move at all tolerable. I also will add that our belongings were delivered in good condition; only a few broken things (which is fairly normal in a move).

Moving from Georgia to Texas.

If I could give zero stars I would give it in a heartbeat. I sold my house in Georgia and I needed to move to Texas. They recruit you giving a low moving estimate and after your loaded your stuff in their truck the pay is way different. Furthermore, they won’t deliver your stuff the same week; your belongings are staying in a warehouse, and another company is in charge of delivery. It may take 5 weeks, as in my case, to have it at your destination. A nightmare! No matter who you are calling is to no avail. Once they catch you you’re dead! At delivery there were missing my expensive living room rug and another box and some linens, I completed the papers, I sent pictures of items missing, it’s been almost 8 months and I have not heard from them..
I want to share my experience with this company so you know what to expect!

Long-distance move from Texas to Arizona

A total nightmare.

I had a really terrible experience too with Old Country Van Lines. It’s been a nightmare. I will be typing up everything. They’re trying to over charge me. Forced me to sign things which are conflicting. Almost missed my flight. Rescheduled on me 3-4 times and in the middle of the night. Had a guy come and leave because it was too cold and they wanted to say they “did the job” because he chose to leave. Managers on phones trying to get him to come back and really screwed up everything. I had to get more hotel nights. Then held my stuff hostage after knowing I was at work when they finally arrived. I asked many times where my stuff is and I still have not had an answer. They want to charge $750 for their mistakes AGAIN. For someone with PTSD, this is incredibly stressful. I wanted to get movers to make things less stressful and I chose a company with good reviews. [EDIT]. They lied every step of the way. I can’t believe these people.

Stay Away!!

Record all phone conversations!

I was overcharged by nearly 500 cu ft! The loaders that packed up my house stacked things in a "secure fashion" which maximized square footage. When my belongings were delivered, by another company, they fit everything into a 400 cu ft space on their truck (billed 873 cu ft). Despite what they claim, they can subcontract your move out to other moving companies.

Somewhere along the way and shuffling it between trucks, they managed to lose and damage multiple items.

DO NOT gamble your belongings on this untrustworthy company! If your quote comes from a company using Old Country Van LInes in NJ, take your business elsewhere. When you call them you're really speaking to a 3rd party company!

They locked me in with a low rate, called me after my down payment was no longer refundable to revise my estimate to a "worst case" scenario, then raised the price again after loading the items on the truck. The Worst experience of MY ENTIRE LIFE!! STAY AWAY!!

Long-distance move from Mcdonough, GA to Pueblo, CO

Lies, stress and overcharging.

I was quoted after a physical inventory $6450 for 1700 cu ft. They loaded and told me it was 2450 cu ft. I got my measuring tape and proved to the movers it was far less - 1900 cu ft (also confirmed on delivery - with photos of where stuff came to on truck. They lied to me about dimensions of the truck and I have photos that show the proper measured dimensions. They came down to 2150 cu ft at $8487 but no lower. Contract said 2nd location was included within 15 miles, on delivery - movers refused unless I paid an add'l $450 when it was already $2000 over what they quoted. The wold process has been the biggest headache and most stressful thing I've probably ever done.

In addition, the movers who loaded us showed up during the only window I told them I would't be there and then argued and were rude to my wife when I wasn't there.

They lied on paperwork and because they hadn't gotten appropriate signatures at the right times (at loading), they made me sign scanned copies of inventory and bill of lading with forged dates or they wouldn't deliver my items.

There's so much more - but all I can say is this was the most unimaginably terrible experience I can imagine it could have been. I guess so far only a couple of things were damaged and nothing that we have found yet that was super important to us.

Worse Moving Company EVER-Buyer Beware.

To Start - [NAME EDIT] is a good talker/salesman, he sounded very professional and thorough. His estimate is what we paid, minus the extra for expedited delivery. We did not pay the extra because of the 30 days delay of delivery. The promised delivery date for this Cross Country trip was Dec.22, from a Nov 28th pickup..5 guys showed up to pick up and apparently they just tossed everything into boxes, no real packing, the dishes and glasses were just put into boxes with towels as packing materials. My wife was by herself guiding them and she could not watch every move, they were running around packing and quickly putting stuff into the truck without regard to breaking stuff. On Dec.22 move in date. NO show..we called, dispatch said they were in Illinois, heading to Montana, then they will be in Washington. 5 days later we call, they are in "Minnesota" per dispatcher..5 days later they are broken down, 5 days later they are on the way to Colorado first then 2 loads to Oregon, THEN to us in Washington. 5 days later "dispatch - they are broken down somewhere in the Mid West truck Stop ? All we can determine is that they constantly lie. They never contacted us, we initiated all the calls. When our goods were finally deliver in mid January..2 [EDIT] guys were fairly helpful, but anxious to get going. Needless to say we had to purchase basic cooking goods and a new bed to sleep on for a month. NOT satisfied at all,.

Experience When Seeking Mover.

We sought quotes for a 600 mile move from one state to another through a website offering multiple quotes. Old Country Van Lines was one of the companies that contacted us. [NAME EDIT] was quite aggressive in trying to get a commitment and offered to send a quote for review when we requested such. The following day [NAME EDIT] contacted us indicating he works with [NAME EDIT] and reviewed our inventory indicating the weight/cubic feet appeared to be over 20,000 lbs. He gave us a quote and pushed for a decision. We explained we were reviewing other quotes and would respond later. Two days later when we informed them we had not selected them, what I feel were less than ethical tactics were instituted in an attempt to make us change our decision and utilize them. This may only be the tactics of two representatives, but it certainly reinforced our decision to not select Old County Van Lines. I would advise extreme caution when listening to their offers and deals. On this experience alone I would not ever consider using them in the future.

Greatest move ever.

From start to finish I was treated with respect . I make music happen and what that means is that people smile for a living its not easy but it has great rewards . I do sound and lighting for some of the best local bands in my hometown. When I got the call that I was going to change where I had been living for 10 years move to the big leagues of the sound industry. I was to say the least at little freaked out. I was not going to be able to be there for my wife ,my three children and my best good four legged friend "Izzy"golden lab by the way softest dog you ever pet . I would have to Trust that someone would be the man power and take the same care of my stuff that I would . To make sure of this I took lots of phone calls and talked to many different companies about how they operate . I had to make sure that this move was perfect . Finally got to talk to someone that was not just looking for a Sale they were looking customer . I mean these people really made it hard not to want to choose them . They listened to me go on and on about what I did for a living and how I needed for this move to be perfect . how my wife was going to be there but I could not because I was on tour for the next 3 months . They kind and courteous and respectful and most of all transparent in the pricing and what they could do as far as packing was concerned. they laid it all out and made me feel a whole lot better. Taking time to be concerned about the little things that were super important to me . Not unlike my prize winning chicken coops and of course my custom harley collection . They may not be bikers themselves , but they were able to convince me to trust my babies to them . They told me how much it would cost and the different ways they could pack them. I was pleased again when heard that a week before the move a QA lady called my wife and went over everything . She laid it out and I was amazed at how accurate she was. My wife and I are thinking of naming are next child after her because of how pretty she spoke and fact that what she said came true the forman was a perfect gentleman came on time and worked super hard . my wife said they must have drank three picher of her lemonade that day and polished off are stock of girl scout cookies. One for thing for certain and two thing for sure these guys work hard and made my wife and kids feel safe. Its like they were family and that is a rare thing these days . So , Thank you Old Country Van LInes for saving my butt .You have no idea how many people you have made smile by your hard work and diligence in just one days worth of work . Rock in roll.

Spectacular moving service.

These guys are pros.

I needed a mover last minute as I work for the Philadelphia Eagles and I was just transferred to work for the Jacksonville Jaguars.. it was an easy scheduling process and everything that Joshua told me was going to happen, happened.

The guys gave me a 3 hour window to show up for the pick up 9am-12pm and they were at my house at 9:15am! The delivery took 6 days and they promised within 10. Not one thing was damaged and this was the first move that I had a flawless service.

Highly recommended and I will pass this on to the next family moving so you know where to look when relocating. Old country vans is the way to go. These guys packed up my stuff without breaking a sweat. I can truly say I do have a mover for life, thanks Joshua for talking me into it as you know I was a little skeptical in the beginning. Great experience, can recomend them.

I normally try to background check companies before taking a decision to eat, visit or use a service, that's why I leave reviews on companies that offer an above customer experience to myself and this was this case.

My family and I moved, everything went well and smooth in every step of the way, the goods came in good shape and under the time I was expecting them, even earlier, so honestly nothing wrong to say about this guys.

I can definitely recommend this company to someone moving.

Wonderful Movers.

They were so wonderful. They were very professional. I had multiple conversations with the owners and they were so polite and so helpful. They did a great job. They went above and beyond what I was expected. Movers understand that moving is emotional and they helped calm me down when I was upset. They were very supportive. They completed the entire job in about 3 hours and the total cost was good. This was our second experience with Moving Company and have been exceedingly pleased each time with both their performance and price. We don't really want to move again any time soon, but if we do we know who to call!

Worst ever, sooo much damage.

I hired them in good faith, they bumped the price twice, demanded cash only before unloading. When they unloaded I understood why, crushed boxes, damaged and broken furniture, missing mirror for bedroom set, dresser had gouge in top, cherry table gouged, coffee table corner gone, pieces missing. When I asked for driver to note damage he said not his problem, when I insisted he tore up invoice. Would not unload truck until cash was in hand .and my wife signed.. all before unloading. They are crooked and the number to file a claim is disconnected, Anthony did not return numerous phone calls and emails. Hence the one star, it should be zero. Do not believe reviews you see, they can’t possibly accurate.

Avoid Old Country Van Lines at all costs.

My experience with this "company" was horrendous from beginning to end. This isn't an actual company; it's a phone line to a residential house in New Jersey. The same phone number can be traced to several other moving companies that have gone out of business. They claim to be accredited by the BBB but that is not accurate. The people who load, drive and unload are not employed or vetted by Old Country Van Lines. They are sub contractors who work for cash only. I had to learn all of this information the hard way and hope to save others from this predatory, dishonest and unprofessional individuals.
3/4-Movers scheduled to pick up at my house in CA. They are two hours late. The paperwork they show up with has different units of measure, different charge amounts than the binding estimate and they tried to upcharge me $200 for a "long carry" because they parked across the street. I got out my tape measure and had to prove to them it was less than 65 feet.
3/5, 3/6 and 3/7-Emailed and called the "moving consultant" identified on my estimate about the contract and measurement discrepancies for which I was owed a $256 credit. No return call or email.
3/9-Dispatch person calls and says my items will be delivered 3/12 or 3/13 and that the driver would call me 24 hours in advance with a time window.
3/12-Hear nothing so I call and leave a message with "Dispatch"
3/13-Dispatch calls me back and says driver has been trying to reach me..wrong. She says they will be there late afternoon on 3/13. Driver finally calls me and says they are 6 hours away but will be there around 4 pm. I call him at 4:30 and he tells me he hasn't left North Dakota but that he will arrive the next morning between 8 and 10 am. I have left work early on 3/13 and now will need to miss more work the following morning.
3/14-I sit at my new empty house from 8-11:30 am with no delivery, no phone calls and no emails. I called and left messages and emails with the driver, Old Country, Dispatch and Sales. None of my messages are returned.
Finally at 3 pm a person from Illinois who I have never dealt with calls me and says that the driver is stuck in South Dakota due to either a broken truck or inclement weather but they will be at my house between 5 and 9 pm the next night. The driver told me North Dakota and in looking at the weather map, nothing but sunshine and rainbows in all of the Dakotas.
3/15-Dispatch person calls in the morning to tell me that the drivers attempted delivery but couldn't complete it because I tried to pay in Canadian money..was I being punked? Wrong again. Then she said that the drivers are on their way from Idaho and will reach me later that night. Keep in mind that I am in MT. These folks must be using a map from 1860 or prior to the Louisiana Purchase being made.
I called the driver directly and he actually picked up only because I blocked my phone number. He said they were still in either North or South Dakota and were scheduled to get into my town at midnight. I'm a single mother and my youngest is a toddler so that didn't really work for me.
3/16-Miracle upon miracles they actually arrive at 8:30 in the morning; but I was so relieved that I didn't mind having to miss yet another day of work.
Piece of advice-pay the slightly higher amount to reputable nation wide movers such as North American, Bekins or Mayflower. The few dollars are well worth it to avoid these shysters. I would say they need to be put out of business but I'm sure they will be soon and then will just start a new one with a different name ; but same dirty playbook.

Local move within New York

Move from New York to California.

This move started out okay, they gave me an estimate for a two bedroom apartment and it seemed to be in line with others and after being assured that there wouldn't be any "surprise" charges, that they were a "family-owned business" with all their own drivers and movers who were "all professionals" I signed the contract. The people who showed up to move me were efficient and packed and wrapped everything well. Surprise #1-an additional '$1500 for underestimated cubic footage. Once the truck was loaded, the mover gave me a delivery date range and was off.
Then I flew to California in order to be here for the delivery - Surprise #2- the truck didn't leave New York until the delivery date so it could be another 10-14 days to get there, necessitating the extra expense of a hotel in San Francisco, which is not inexpensive. Finally, the driver calls and says he will be arriving at 10:00 the next morning (which happened to be Easter Sunday) so I canceled a brunch with family to await my delivery. Surprise #3 - the delivery didn't arrive until after 4;00 pm. When it did arrive, Surprise #4 he charged me an additional $800 because they moved it from the big truck to a smaller truck.
Already $2300 over the original estimate, they brought my stuff into the house and tried to charge me for the steps outside as well as the interior stairs which I showed him on the contract had been paid for. As the movers brought in my things, it was clear they were anything but professional movers. They carried my wardrobe boxes in upside down, which of course left all my clothing in a pile at the bottom of the box. Many things were broken or damaged and then after they had randomly put boxes around the house without regard to what rooms they belonged in, he refused to put any furniture together, and when I showed him on the contract that they were obligated to do so, he had no tools and told me I had to furnish him with tools, He refused to do an inventory with me and when I asked his "professional movers" how long they had been with the company, it turned out they were day laborers that he had picked up that morning outsude Home Depot and they didn't even speak English, which explained why they didn't know what rooms the boxes went in . When I told him how dissatisfied I was he told me it's good that I left New York because California needs more [EDIT]. I am a 65-year-old woman who is left trying to move packing boxes from room to room, I am sleeping on a mattress on the floor since even if I could put the bed together, not all the parts got here, so I have to buy a new bed, and then to top it all off, when I called the company to obtain a claim form, 3 calls, and 3 emails, I have still not heard from them. After paying all this money for an absolutely disastrous move and abysmal customer service, I feel I might be entitled to be a little [EDIT].

Long-distance move from Carthage, NY to Marlow, OK

Nightmare.

Do NOT trust this company! They lie from the very first time you speak to them! I walked through every room in my house, they give you a great quote..soon as they get there give you another..randomly leave high dollar items behind and claim it won’t fit on their truck..say they will come back..then want to charge you a ton. Then tell you when they leave they are on their way to deliver. Never show..when you finally reach them..they won’t a ton of cash! Still waiting on my delivery and it’s been 17 days! This has been a nightmare!! If my things are still not here in 4 more days..I’m getting a lawyer!! Run from this company!!

Official company response

No one lied to you. You were quoted for the volume of furniture you relayed to us. Upon arrival, you had a fair amount of additional volume. The increase of price was explained, and you were given options. We told you we would happily move what was on the original quote at the original price. We have not shown up on delivery because you refused to pay your remaining balance. The police you contacted agreed with you being in the wrong. The DOT inspector you contacted, also agreed. We have given you the options to pay your balance to have your furniture delivered numerous times. Please reach out if you need further clarification.

Long-distance move from San Jose, CA to New Brunswick, NJ

Amazing Movie Experience.

I recently relocated and was looking for a professional and ethical company to help me with the move. After doing a lot of research, I finally decided on Old Country Van Lines and I can say that I am extremely pleased with the results. I have a lot of sentimental and fragile items that needed to be handled with care. Everyone I interacted with at the company was very nice and professional and helped me with all of my needs. I would highly recommend.
